Why the Brand Matters

July 10th, 2023

Have you ever compared two air conditioner models and been confused why one with seemingly identical parts and a similar feel, might cost more? Then you notice the “Carrier” brand name on the product, and it all starts to make sense. Brand labels represent more than the average air conditioner system.

We do this subconsciously with cars all the time. A Ford or GMC truck is going to conjure up a different picture in our minds than a Toyota. Our expectations change and technology behind each product shifts from brand to brand, which is why it’s so vital that you really understand why our partnerships with brands like Carrier and York really matter.

Today, we’re going to talk about how brand names relate to air conditioning in Gastonia, NC. We’ll discuss the two major partnerships we have, Carrier and York, and talk about why they might be worth more than a generic AC or heating system.

What Exactly Is Refrigerant?

June 12th, 2023

Last week we talked a little bit about short cycling, and how one of the main causes of this serious problem was a refrigerant leak. In truth, refrigerant leaks cause a lot of different problems, both for your home and your air conditioner. It can be so bad that sometimes we get the question “Why even use refrigerant? What’s the point of this chemical being in an air conditioner?”

Refrigerant is absolutely required for your air conditioner to even work at all. It’s a chemical that’s at the center of your AC’s cooling process, and if it’s leaking from your system, then you need to schedule AC repairs in Gastonia, NC.

Without refrigerant, your air conditioner would just be an oversized fan and nothing more. It’s thanks to this material that your air conditioner even has the capability to cool your home.

Department of Energy 2023 Regulatory HVAC Efficiency Requirements

May 1st, 2023

As of January 1, 2023, all new residential central air-conditioning and air-source heat pump systems sold in the United States are required to meet new minimum energy efficiency standards

How does this affect my household?

Effective January 1, 2023, the higher efficiency equipment will become the base model. If you need a new heat pump or AC/furnace combo, you’ll need to purchase more energy-efficient equipment. However, the higher efficiency equipment does come at a higher price point. We currently offer this premium equipment as an option for our customers.

When the new regulations come into effect, we will no longer be able to sell equipment that doesn’t meet the new regulations. We’ll still be able to repair and service older equipment and get parts, but any equipment installed after January 1st, 2023, will be required to meet the new regulations.

What can Ace Hardware Home Services do to help?

At Ace Hardware Home Services, we value each customer, and we take pride in serving our community and offering reasonable pricing. We know that HVAC replacement can be costly and sometimes an unexpected expense.
